Is this your first time applying for a visa and/or visiting our site?

IMPORTANT:

Urgent information for visa applicants regarding novel coronavirus:
Any individuals with pending consular appointments who (1) were physically present within the People’s Republic of China, excluding the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macau, within the last 14 days, (2) are experiencing flu-like symptoms, or (3) believe they have may have been exposed to the novel coronavirus, are strongly encouraged to postpone their appointments by at least 14 days. There is no fee to change an appointment and visa application fees are valid for one year in the country where the fee was paid. For questions about rescheduling a pending consular appointment, please send an email to [email protected] for specific guidance. Information concerning rescheduling a pending consular appointment is also available at http://www.oxbzoo.tw/pa/pa-niv-appointmentschedule.asp.

On January 31, 2020, a new Presidential Proclamation (“Presidential Proclamation 9983”) was issued which added to the ongoing travel restrictions of P.P. 9645 by expanding them to the nationals of six additional countries.  The restrictions only apply to immigrant visas and/or diversity visas, not nonimmigrant visas.  More information is available at this link

Entry of aliens who were present in China, excluding the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macau, within 14 days prior to their arrival at the port of entry in the United States is suspended, per Presidential Proclamation. If you reside in China, have traveled to China recently, or intend to travel to China prior to your planned trip to the United States, we recommend you postpone your visa interview appointment until 14 days subsequent to your departure from China.

The Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Panama City will be closed for routine services from Monday, December 23, 2019 through Friday, January 3, 2020. Emergency services for U.S. citizens and emergency visa services will still be available. If you believe that you have an emergency need for visa services (emergency needs would include medical emergencies, the death of a family member, students that begin or resume classes in January and urgent business travel), please contact [email protected].

PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE TRAVELING TO PANAMA FOR A VISA APPOINTMENT:

If you are not a resident of Panama and will be traveling to Panama for your visa interview, we strongly encourage you to travel with your appointment letter in your hand luggage in case the Panamanian authorities request evidence of why you are entering the country.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you are applying for a visa under the Visa Interview Waiver Program either renewing or if you comply with the requirements for minors under 14 or people over 80, please verify the requirements in http://cdn.ustraveldocs.com/pa/pa-svc-visachild.asp and http://cdn.ustraveldocs.com/pa/pa-niv-visarenew.asp. IF YOU DO NOT QUALIFY YOUR PROCESS WILL BE DELAYED.

The U.S. Embassy in Panama has extremely limited storage facilities for visitors and is not responsible for items either left or lost on its premises. Carrying many items dramatically slows down the security screening process, resulting in much longer waiting times to enter the building. We request you bring nothing to the embassy except the documents related to your visa interview and absolutely refrain from bringing multiple electronic items and bags.

If you are a citizen of a Visa Waiver Program partner but unable to travel to the United States under that program, you should apply for a nonimmigrant visa at least three months in advance of your desired travel. If you do not have imminent travel plans, you should pay the nonimmigrant visa application fee, fill out the DS-160 nonimmigrant visa application form at ceac.state.gov/genniv/, and schedule a visa appointment. If your travel is imminent, you may request an expedited visa appointment. Please include in your request the date and purpose of your travel, as well as a copy of any U.S. Customs and Border Protection message you may have received regarding your ESTA status.

More information about restrictions to travel under the Visa Waiver Program, including the requirement for an electronic passport, is available at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/tourism-visit/visa-waiver-program.html

Effective Monday, 22 June 2015, the U.S. Embassy will strictly enforce the regulation restricting Consular Section access to visa applicants only. This is necessary due to space constraints. Accompanying personnel will not be permitted entry to the Consulate with the following exceptions:

  • Elderly visa applicants requiring assistance
  • Minors under 18 accompanied by parents or legal representatives
  • Disabled applicants requiring assistance
  • Representatives from social organizations sponsoring applicants
  • Translators for those individuals who do not speak Spanish or English
  • The Consular Section will not respond to inquiries about individual visa cases from third parties as visa information is confidential. Consequently, the section will not entertain inquiries from third parties accompanying visa applicants on the day of their interviews.

Applicants who arrive more than 30 minutes before the scheduled appointment will not be allowed into the waiting room due to space limitations and security concerns. Please plan accordingly.
