Urgent information for visa applicants regarding novel coronavirus:

Any individuals with pending consular appointments who (1) were physically present within the People’s Republic of China, excluding the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macau, within the last 14 days, (2) are experiencing flu-like symptoms, or (3) believe they have may have been exposed to the novel coronavirus, are strongly encouraged to postpone their appointments by at least 14 days. There is no fee to change an appointment and visa application fees are valid for one year in the country where the fee was paid. Entry of aliens who were present in China, excluding the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macau, within 14 days prior to their arrival at the port of entry in the United States is suspended, per Presidential Proclamation.  If you reside in China, have traveled to China recently, or intend to travel to China prior to your planned trip to the United States, we recommend you postpone your visa interview appointment until 14 days subsequent to your departure from China.


On December 4, the US. Supreme Court granted the Government's motions for emergency stays of priliminary injunctions issues by the U.S. District Courts for the Districs of Hawaiiand Maryland, which prohibited the enforecement of certain sections of Presidential Proclamation 9645 (P.P.) Nationals of Chad, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Syria, Yemen, and Venezuela are subject to restrinctions and limitations. More information is available at this link.


Approved visas and passports are available for pick up Mail Boxes Etc every day of the weekduring the office's normal business hours (some branched may close on Sunday). Passports pick-up at the VAC is limited to Monday through Friday, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. You will receive an email when your passport is ready to pick up at your chosen location. Please bring your valid photo identification (cédula) and your appointment letter from ustraveldocs.com to collect your passport and visa.

Please note that the passports not collected within 14 calendar days will be returned to the U.S. Embassy and you will need to arrange to pick up your passports/documents directly from the Consular Section.
