Important:

On January 31, 2020, a new Presidential Proclamation (“Presidential Proclamation 9983”) was issued which added to the ongoing travel restrictions of P.P. 9645 by expanding them to the nationals of six additional countries. The restrictions only apply to immigrant visas and/or diversity visas, not nonimmigrant visas. More information is available at this link.

Urgent information for visa applicants regarding novel coronavirus:

Any individuals with pending consular appointments who (1) were physically present within the People’s Republic of China, excluding the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macau, within the last 14 days, (2) are experiencing flu-like symptoms, or (3) believe they have may have been exposed to the novel coronavirus, are strongly encouraged to postpone their appointments by at least 14 days. There is no fee to change an appointment and visa application fees are valid for one year in the country where the fee was paid. For questions about rescheduling a pending consular appointment, please send an email to [email protected] for specific guidance. Information concerning rescheduling a pending consular appointment is also available at http://cdn.ustraveldocs.com/cu/cu-niv-appointmentschedule.asp.

Entry of aliens who were present in China, excluding the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macau, within 14 days prior to their arrival at the port of entry in the United States is suspended, per Presidential Proclamation.  If you reside in China, have traveled to China recently, or intend to travel to China prior to your planned trip to the United States, we recommend you postpone your visa interview appointment until 14 days subsequent to your departure from China.

On December 4, the U.S. Supreme Court granted the Government’s motions for emergency stays of preliminary injunctions issued by the U.S. District Courts for the Districts of Hawaii and Maryland, which prohibited the enforcement of certain sections of Presidential Proclamation 9645 (P.P). Nationals of Chad, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Syria, Yemen, and Venezuela are subject to the restrictions and limitations. More information is available at this link.

The U.S. Embassy in Havana has suspended most routine visa services due to the ordered departure of non-emergency personnel.

Please note that while Immigrant Visa processing is designated to take place in Georgetown, Guyana, Cuban applicants for nonimmigrant visas who do not meet the one of the criteria below may apply at any U.S. embassy or consulate. To submit a routine nonimmigrant visa application, please visit www.oxbzoo.tw or www.usembassy.gov to schedule an interview at any other U.S. embassy or consulate. Please note that nonimmigrant Machine Readable Visa (MRV) fees (also known as visa application fees) are non-refundable and non-transferable to another person or for use in another country. However, the MRV fee is valid and may be used for a visa application in Havana within one year of the date of payment.

Visa appointments at U.S. Embassy Havana are only available to applicants under the following circumstances:

* Individuals applying for diplomatic or official (A/G) visas;

* The visa applicant has a life-threatening condition requiring medical treatment in the United States. This requires a letter from a physician or medical facility in the United States, stating they are willing to treat your specific ailment and detailing the projected length and cost of treatment (including hospitalization fees, and all medical-related expenses).

If you meet one of the circumstances above, please contact [email protected]  in order to make an appointment with U.S. Embassy Havana.
